Conference on Multiple Pregnancy
On December 15-16, 2011 an international conference on Multiple Pregnancy was held at Kyiv National Academy of Post Graduate Education (NMAPE).
The Conference was organized by the NMAPE, Ministry of Health of Ukraine and Swiss-Ukrainian Mother and Child Health Programme (MCHP). Conference agenda was designed based mainly upon the training module on Multiple Pregnancy developed by the working group within MCHP in the previous project phase. Among the conference presenters were perinatal practitioners from Ukraine, Belgium, Germany and Israel. In their presentations the speakers shared the latest advances in diagnostics and management of uncomplicated and complicated multiple pregnancy, addressed the issues of neonatal care and postnatal outcomes. The Conference participants were also very glad to receive e-module on Multiple Pregnancy developed by MCHP working group in the previous phase.
Nearly 200 perinatal practitioners and medical faculty from all regions of Ukraine gathered in Kyiv to attend the conference. For the first time in Ukraine the on-line conference participation was also made possible. Due to collaborative effort of Mother and Child Health Programme and Kyiv National Academy of Post Graduate Education over 500 people from 91 locations received on-line access to the conference. Some participated individually while several Medical Universities organized on-line group sessions, for example, 117 participants in Odessa, 104 in Donetsk and 30 in Dnipropetrovsk.
The feedback from both “live” and on-line participants was very positive. “This has been the best Conference of this kind. And the idea of on-line participation was absolutely fantastic!, said Yevhenii Petrenko, an obstetrician from Dnipropetrovsk.
“Great that the Conference was dedicated to multiple pregnancy. We are getting more and more of these cases but there is no clinical protocol. At this conference I learned a lot and what is really important – I can use it in my practice. I’m so glad that I’m here!” said one of the Conference participants during the coffee break. (Чудово, що конференція присвячена саме темі багатоплодової вагітності. Маємо в практиці все більше таких жінок, але клінічного протоколу з цього питання нема. А на цій конференцій отримав надзвичайно багато нових і, головне, практичних знань. Дуже радий, що приїхав!)
“The Conference content is very interesting. Even though we participated in the training on Multiple Pregnancy during the previous project phase, the conference format provided additional information and also offered an opportunity to network with the colleagues. I’m very grateful to the Maternal Child Health Project for supporting my participation in the conference”, said Larissa Zadvornykh-Sashko, an obstetrician/gynecologist from Ratno central rayon hospital, Volyn region.
